Cindy, it's so great that you happen to be moving. I think this will be good for both of you. Love what John Free said about his wife, that the meetings made her feel bad about herself. IMHO, this is way better than playing the depression card. Meetings DO make people feel bad about themselves! Anyway, keep doing what works for you; my very best wishes for your fade and marriage.

Circuit ASSembly low-lites
by FedUpJW inso in an effort to relieve some pressure here are what i term the low-lites of yesterday's assembly that i had to endure for the sake of family still in and my progressing fade.
apologies in advance for being pretty long winded.. these may not all be the actual words used, but the ones i use are close, and they pretty well say what was said from the platform.. right off the bat in the opening prayer the praises of the governing body were spoken.
thanking the g.b.

Coming Out To My JW Sister
by Ame SF innow, i have been mentally "awake" for quite a while, but i'll just say march/april this year.
i won't go into detail about what it was that made me "realize" everything, so don't bother asking.. so, i've known for years that i wasn't like most girls in my classes, kingdom hall, and just in general.
from a very young age i had that obvious interest in the same sex, but seeing as i was seemingly the only one feeling that way i would brush it off and eventually i started getting interested in guys.

Plan your escape very carefully...I don't think you'll ever be a dub! Congratulations and big hugs to you.

Undecided
by Disassociated Lady 2 ini have recently been disfellowshipped (after being reinstated in march).
i saw a group of jws gathered in the town car park yesterday.
they seemed startled when they recognised my car and talked amongst themselves giving one another a satisfied grin!

There will be opportunities to stick it to 'em should you choose to do so...I wouldn't seek them out though. Just enjoy your life. They can't seem to enjoy theirs.

Cold war on homefront!
by LifesNotOver ina few months back i let it be known to my husband that i was no longer interested in anything jw related.
when he took it to the elders, without actually divulging anything that might get me disfellowshipped like apostasy - well, he just basically told them i was all depressed and discouraged and everything and that i didn't want to be contacted by the elders about it.
i don't know what he actually told them, word for word, or what they actually said to him word for word, but he told me they told him not to do anything spiritual with me at home anymore - no bible study, praying, daily text, meetings via phone, jw broadcasting, discussions, etc.

Have you signed up for any classes or groups you're interested in yet? Please get out there and have some fun; life is too short to sit around fearing a future as a bag lady. You will not be a bag lady. There are resources out there to help you. Are you interested in anything creative? There are free tutorials online to help you learn how to do just about anything...but I still encourage you to get out and go to a class or something where you can meet people. Often they are free or very low cost for seniors.
You are growing and he is not. Stubborn refusal to change or even look at new possibilities is what makes people old. You don't have to get old with him, whether you leave or not.

CNN doc 'Holy Hell'
by Worldling9 ini just saw the documentary 'holy hell' on cnn, about a cult called buddhafield.
it was a small group but has existed since the 80s and still has a few followers.
classic cult stuff, much of which i found eerily familiar.

It started out with a group of people who were sincere seekers, as were the dubs. Ego got in the way and abuses ensued, as they did with the dubs. People started to notice how different things had become and started to speak up, and the leader claimed persecution and told the followers not to read that stuff...people started leaving...the group got smaller...is this a classic cult arc? That guy only has power over the few who allow it now, the few who know and choose it anyway. Does any of this sound familiar? For me, the differences from jws were that this cult was smaller, didn't claim to be bible based, and it followed a single man rather than a corporation. Otherwise I found it very similar.
Makes me wonder how many will be left after the internet has its way with jw,org.

Happiness and Freedom On A Paradise Earth?
by Disassociated Lady 2 inat a recent meeting there was a watchtower article about life in paradise.
they were saying that even when witnesses finally get there they will still be under the strict instructions from the elders and gb.
they may be given jobs that they will find unpleasant, also the preaching work will be ongoing because of all the resurrected people who need to learn about why they are given another chance.

JW Stand On Concealed Carry
by Cold Steel inif a jw wanted to get a concealed carry permit, would the society have any moral or ethical problems with it?
in other words, if one of your elders noticed you were carrying concealed, would they be apt to just ignore it or would they counsel you on it?

PE...sorry you've been having a rough time. All of the feelings you've been having are normal. It does take time and things do get better. You are still young enough to pursue whatever career you want...so check with yourself and figure out what you are passionate about. Go for it, and the rest will follow.
